STOTT PILATES® is a contemporary approach to the original exercise method pioneered by the late Joseph Pilates. Co-founders Lindsay and Moira Merrithew, along with a team of physical therapists/physiotherapists, sports medicine and fitness professionals, have spent over two decades refining the STOTT PILATES® method of exercise and equipment. STOTT PILATES® methodology incorporates modern exercise principles, and applies proven and accepted practices in biomechanics, rehabilitation and athletic performance enhancement.
STOTT PILATES® exercises are designed to restore the natural curves of the spine and re-balance the muscles around the joints. This involves placing emphasis on pelvic and scapular stabilization, and integration of all the parts of the body into one. As well, preparatory exercises and modifications allow the technique to be appropriate for many different body types and abilities, making it applicable to sport-specific training and everyday life.
As the exclusive STOTT PILATES® Licensed Training Center in Texas, we welcome all new, experienced and aspiring instructors and trainers who desire to learn and benefit from the internationally renowned and respected STOTT PILATES® Education and services provided at Pilates South Texas. The enhanced emphasis to strengthen one’s knowledge of biomechanics, anatomy and mindful movement structured around the STOTT PILATES® Five Basic Principles will be thoroughly reinforced with a progressive, supportive approach at Pilates South Texas.
The STOTT PILATES® education method is unparalleled in the industry for its thoroughness and quality. We at Pilates South Texas maintain these established standards in order to mentor our students for a career of Pilates instruction.
The Pilates instructor training programs range from Matwork and Reformer to the Cadillac, Chair & Barrels. These certification programs are complemented with the STOTT PILATES® Injuries & Special Populations education and Merrithew™ Continuing Education for further professional development.
